What kinds of media contents can be shown?
iArtist Lite supports various types of multimedia objects as follows:

  • Video: All video files can be transcoded into MP4 format.
  • Audio: All audio files can be transcoded into MP3 format.
  • Image: Support BMP, JPG, JPEG, JPE, and PNG.
  • Text: Support messages from text strings, text files, and RSS. The scrolling speed is adjustable.
  • Clock: Support digital, analog, and multiple real-time clocks.
  • PDF: Support PDF files (Above Microsoft Office 2010).
  • Power Point: Support Office Power Point files (Above Microsoft Office 2010).
  • HTML: Support HTML with website URL.
I assume the Signage Station App will process & transcode the imported contents. How does it work? Are all the video will be transcoded into more compact, lower resolution content? What if the case customers want to stream high resolution content but don't want it be transcoded?
When users drag and drop the video to canvas, it will start to transcode process. All the videos can be transcoded in into lower resolution basics on the area size in canvas.
If you don’t want to transcode the high resolution video, just don’t check “ Enable Video Transcode “ in create new layout page, then you can keep the original resolution content.
How many concurrent streams to clients are suggested?
It depends on the bandwidth. For the Apache setting the “MaxkeepAliveRequests” are 100 clients, but this value includes all clients even not using Signage Station.
Can I run ASP-based websites on the Turbo NAS?
Mono QPKG provides .NET Framework environment to run ASP-based websites on the Turbo NAS.

Please note arm-based Turbo NAS models do not support this QPKG. 

Does the Turbo NAS support remote connections directly to MySQL databases?
MySQL server on the Turbo NAS supports remote connection via TCP/ IP.

Eenabling TCP/ IP networking of the MySQL server configuration can make it work (MySQL Server -> Enable TCP/IP Networking).

phpMyAdmin is also required to be installed and utilized in order to set the user privilege for remote host(s) connection.

When adding the Turbo NAS to AD, will the access authority of Windows be copied to the Turbo NAS?
No. Access authority set in Windows will not be copied to the Turbo NAS. You should set the access right on the Turbo NAS manually.
What is the maximum single file size supported by Qsync?
Both the Windows and Mac versions of Qsync can support synchronizing files up to 500GB in size.
When using Windows, if you leave a team folder and delete files using “Shift+Delete”, it will delete some files in the team folder first, then leave the team folder. It will also delete files in other members’ team folder. Is there any solution for this issue?

Due to the Windows system, using “Shift+Delete” will affect the integrity of files in the team folder because Windows will first send to Qsync the delete command and then Qsync will get the command to delete the team folder. When deleting files/folders using Qsync, we recommend only using “Delete” as it will leave team folders then move files to the recycle bin. For the integrity of data, “Delete” is the way to protect your data in NAS.

How many users can I share with when I use the Qsync team folder?

Qsync generally allows up to 256 members to share files (including the owner of the team folder.) However, low-end QNAP NAS models may lack the performance needed to reach this number. To avoid overloading a low-end QNAP NAS, we recommend restricting the number of users.

Please note: For sharing with a large amount of users (for example, across a department) you can use the shared folder and sync them on local devices.

Why can’t I login to PHPXMail with error ''You don't have permission to access /phpxmail/ on this server'' ?
Step 1: If you have installed XDove, you should either:

  • Switch to use XDove, or
  • Remove the XDove hidden folder under the qpkg folder and proceed to Step 2.

Step 2:

  • Remove the XMail QPKG
  • Login to the NAS via SSH (e.g. using PuTTY)
  • Delete all symbolic link folders under /share/QWeb
  • Reinstall the XMail QPKG
Why I could not use some QPKG add-ons such as the Download Station and Multimedia Station in the QPKG Center after downgrading the Turbo NAS firmware from the QTS 4.0.x to v3.8.x?
Some QPKG add-ons such as the Download Station and Multimedia Station are modularized for the QTS 4.0.x only and are not compatible with the Turbo NAS firmware v3.8.x or older versions. To use these add-ons, please remove them from the QPKG Center. Then upgrade the Turbo NAS firmware to QTS 4.0.x and install the add-ons again in the App Center.
I am unable to login to Qcontactz. What should I do?
This situation may arise due to Container Station being disabled or uninstalled. Follow the steps in Question 5 if Container Station is disabled. Follow the steps in Question 6 if Container Station has been uninstalled.

Why do I need to install and activate Container Station before using Qcontactz?
Qcontactz is a containerized application. Container Station must be installed and activated on your NAS before Qcontactz can be installed.
What does the following message mean: ''Network error!! The NAS cannot be reached. Please check that it is operating and has correct network settings or make sure container station is installed and initialized.''?
This can mean one of three things:

a. The NAS is not connected to a network.
b. You are unable to reach to the NAS due to incorrect network settings.
c. Container Station has been uninstalled or disabled.

My camera is not on the compatibility list, can you add it?
Please inform us the camera model you want to add.  Our product managers will take into consideration on future firmware release.
I have purchased the wrong license. Can I get a refund?
Please follow our tutorial to deactivate the license and contact QNAP customer services within 14 days of purchase.
What file systems can I use for the Surveillance Station?
EXT4 is the only file system supported by the Surveillance Station.
